June is about evenings spent on the terrace watching the sun set late. It is about long days and music - and this month there is a whole lot of new music on the scene. So the Pura Vida Playlist is bringing you an eclectic mix of some of our favourites. Because who says summer has to have one sound?
Here are the tracks we've been listening to this month:
Cassius ft. Cat Power and Pharrell Williams - Go Up
You may remember the French dance duo’s track Cassius ‘1999’… Well they’re back with their first LP in 10 years - ‘Ibifornia’, aptly named because it was made between the two sunshine destinations of Ibiza and California. Sounds like my kind of combination! And the track ‘Go Up’ has that chilled-out funk vibe to it, and with Pharrell you can’t really go wrong…
AlunaGeorge - I Remember
We love this duo here at PV HQ and we love this song even more!
Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Dark Necessities
They’re back and they're banging, with the iconic bass sounds of Flea and their new album The Getaway. Possibly my favourite track this month, and there are some serious contenders vying for that spot in this playlist! Aannnd the video was directed by Olivia Wilde, currently one of the coolest pregnant women around.
Catfish and the Bottlemen - 7
This British indie rock band have been getting a lot of attention and buzz, and with this song I’m finally on board the Bottlemen bandwagon!
Shura - What’s It Gonna Be?
Shura is a ‘sure thing’ and a regular feature on our Playlists, and following on from the epic ‘Touch’ (which we adore!) this track is well, about secret crushes. And the video reminds me of one of my favourite 80s films ‘Some Kind of Wonderful’, with a twist…
Get Your Body Moving Track: Kungs vs Cookin’ on 3 Burners - This Girl
I heard this song for the first time driving from Lake Como back to Milan along some beautiful lakeside roads, with the window down and feeling good! This song will always take me back to that moment… Bring on the summer!
Throwback Track: Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds - Red Right Hand
Just because we love the darkly seductive and badass feel of this song! And it’s the theme song of Peaky Blinders…
